Why do I need a free consultation for the installation of extensions?Extensions require a free consultation to ensure you are matched with the right type of hair. The hair and installation ranges from $100-$300. LaPosh Salon offers tape-ins and sew-in extensions. During the consultation, consider the right kind of extensions based on your lifestyles, hair type, desired look, and maintenance habits.

How long do extensions last?Tape-in extensions last about 2 months while sew-in extensions like about 6-8 weeks. Sew-ins are much better than tape in or clip in extensions because they will last longer if you live a more active lifetsyle. If you actively take excercies classes such as hot yoga or do intense workouts, sew-ins will last longer as long they are washed and cared for with quality products.

Why should I invest in quality hair?It is tempting to buy cheaper hair from amazon. But there is a reason our salon reccomends quality hair products. Synthetic extensions are the most affordable, but they tangle easily and have a super high shine, which makes them look obviously unnatural and much less likely to blend in. Also, they tend to melt faster when applying hot tools and can damage the hair and cause excess shedding if they are too heavy for the hair. Here at LaPosh Studio, we use high quality extensions that blend in with your hair color and texture and are much more gentle. We use extensions that are much closer to your real hair, so they’ll hold styles and texture the same way and won’t shed as much as the cheaper options. Our goal is for you not to look like you’re wearing fake hair. Someone should not be able to tell that you’re wearing extensions. The key to having natural-looking extensions even with the highest quality is making sure the hair cuticles are all facing the same way to prevent tangles and matting.

How do I care for my extensions after they are installed?Just like your natural hair, extensions need regular washing. Use a shampoo and conditioner free of sulfates and parabens, and blot them with a towel to remove excess water, then let them air dry. Focus on the roots, and condition only from the mid-length of the hair down. Protect your extensions by waiting until they’re mostly dry to use heat styling tools, and avoid using those directly on the bonds. Do not ever go to bed with wet hair. To ensure they last longer and maintain a healthy look, make sure your hair is totally dry before you hit the pillow.

Can extensions damage my hair?It is very important to see an extensions expert who have a certification in the installation and care of extensions. Extensions can be a beautiful enhancement, but they can damage your hair when they are not professionally installed or removed by an expert. Please know that all hair stylists do not have the skills to install and remove extensions. An experienced extension specialist can identify whether the hair is too heavy for your hair and match you with the kind that is healthiest for your hair texture and length. Overly heavy hair can weigh down the hair too much and cause hair shedding and breakage due to the consistent pulling. Extension specialists can help ensure the hair does not cause pain or headaches. With most extensions, you shouldn’t be able to feel them at all.
